So you’ve decided to take on some major renovations.

New paint and new carpeting have been selected to be crossed off the list.

You finally started to paint your walls after days and trials, looking for that perfect color Grey (and, we all know there are fifty shades of them to choose from).

Then, it dawns on you; you completely forgot to take into consideration, what color carpet to install that will best suit your newly painted home.

As mentioned, there are so many different types of the color Grey. Some might have a more beige tint, others a purplish hue, some bluish, and so on and so forth. You have Grey that is called Grey but looks more Latte.

Above all, having a professional flooring company make some suggestions can help tremendously, but more conveniently, they can bring swatches of carpeting right to your home.

During your free in-home carpet estimate they come with multiple colors and samples for you to observe and explore, allowing you to select the perfect shade of flooring to compliment your new walls.

First, let’s start with some, of many carpet options…

  • Plush Carpet: This carpet style is the perfect fit for any room that delivers a more sophisticated and classy appeal. The rich velvet-like texture is sure to complete that formal setting.
  • Frieze Carpet: For any room that has an informal, off-the-cuff look, Frieze is the carpet of choice. It will add a definite flair that everyone will notice.
  • Berber Carpet: Perfect for high traffic and foot abuse. Berber is durable carpeting which makes it the preferred selection for that room(s) in your home that receive the most activity and movement. Available in many cozy earth tones.
  • Looped Carpet: Add some extra uniqueness underfoot with our multi-leveled looped carpeting. It is available in many different colors and patterns.

With these options in mind, our carpet color suggestions are as follows:

Dark Grey Walls

Select a light colored carpet. Too much of this dark color will make the space look gloomy and dark. Perhaps a beautiful light Grey, Ivory, Winter White, or even a subtle shade of Blush. You can even choose a carpet that contains flecks of color. We love this type of carpeting especially, for those who love to walk around with their coffee in hand and accidentally spill a drop. This carpet hides those flaws, magically blending them in. But, if you have your heart set on a dark Grey carpet, try choosing something that doesn’t blend too much with the walls, but adds a nice contrast.

Decorating Option Tips:

Shades of Teal, Berries, Corals, Pinks, and Emerald are great bursts of color to incorporate.

Natural Grey

We absolutely love this shade of Grey. It is a warm shade of Grey and so easy to work with. Carpet color suggestions: Beige, Ivory, Medium to Dark Grey, again, a multi-color flecked option. You want to be unique, and you can even opt for a Navy or Bluish-Grey. It all depends on the look you’re aiming to get.

Decorating Option Tips:

Do not be afraid of Reds and Oranges. These colors are fabulous and are such a success with Natural Grey. You can even throw in hints of Browns and Golds into the mix.

Modern Grey:

This color has a “green” side to it. The hue in this shade can be paired with Carpet in: Beige, Charcoal, Putty, Stone, and again, flecked color carpet. You can definitely select a color that has a hint of Green. But you should consider a contrast color. Choose something that won’t blend but agrees positively with your walls.

Decorating Option Tips:

Browns and Caramels look great with this shade. You can also throw in some Coral if you want a burst of color.

Overall, do not be afraid of color. There is nothing that can not be worked with. Colors are so much fun, and the experience should be enjoyable as you work on that project. Ask experts and do your research, do not jump to or make haste decisions. Browse, explore and take things into consideration. Ultimately, make it your own. after all, you’re the one who has to live with it.
